About Concord Group

From a modest beginning, The Concord Group Insurance Companies have grown to become one of the region’s most respected insurance carriers. We are renowned for innovative procedures and dedicated service to thousands of policyholders throughout Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. In business since 1928, The Concord Group has built an enviable reputation based on our ongoing strength, stability, and performance: a reputation represented by our long-term corporate symbol – the sturdy, stable, and “high-performance” Concord Coach.

Founded in 1928, the original company, Farm Bureau Mutual Fire Insurance Company, was established by the New Hampshire Farm Bureau Federation to provide affordable coverages to its farm members. During the ensuing years, insurance products were developed to serve the needs of the nonagricultural community as well. Ultimately, the name of the company was changed in 1966 to Concord General Mutual Insurance Company to satisfy current insurance market and geographic requirements. Other companies owned and/or affiliated within the group include: Bow Mutual Fire Insurance Company; Green Mountain Insurance Company, Inc.; Peoples Service Insurance Company; State Mutual Insurance Company; Sunapee Mutual Fire Insurance Company; Vermont Accident Insurance Company, Inc. and Weare Mutual Fire Insurance Company.

Today Concord Group is a leading regional, multi-line insurer in New England serving over 250,000 policyholders through 300 independent agents and has consistently earned an A (Excellent) rating from A.M. Best Company, a national insurance rating organization.
